Your Children’s Bookshelf is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing free children’s books through our Donors and Program Partners to families and children, encouraging the love of reading, fostering literacy and education.

So how can you help??? There are many ways to assist us in our goal of acquiring books.
First check your basement or closet, call a family member or a friend. You’ll be surprised with the hidden gems you will find. Visit a garage or rummage sale, everyone will have that area where they are selling or giving away children’s books.
As you can imagine, books for Your Children’s Bookshelf are everything. Our library in McHenry, IL houses our gently used books and the inventory fluctuates through-out the year. We have always tried to maintain at least 3000 books in our library.
To date, we average giving away 450 books per book fair and 50 books a month through our certificate program. These numbers are only going to increase in 2020.
We work in conjunction with corporations to set up and organize book drives. Your employees have the opportunity to donate books to this drive or make a monetary donation.
